DEVELOPMENT HISTORY
Rebecca Wahls and Maggie Marie Rodgers started developing this old haunt in March 2020 with SMJ joining the team to write the book in September 2020. Multiple virtual readings were held throughout 2021 via Zoom with different casts. These readings took place on May 2, July 10, August 5, and September 25.
this old haunt was a part of the 2022 Season at Fort Salem Theater in Salem, NY. The workshop staged reading was presented July 23 & 24, 2022. The reading was directed by Rebecca Wahls, dramaturged by Juju Nieto, and music directed by Matthew Zweibel. The cast featured Rita Castagna, Ceara Ledwith, Brittany Martz, & Kayla Zanakis.
this old haunt was a part of the 2022-2023 Season at Carnegie Mellon University. The Academic Premiere production was directed by Rebecca Wahls & music was directed by Billie Jo Miller with dramaturgy by Juju Nieto and stage management by Maggie Latham. The production opened on November 19, 2022, and closed on November 30, 2022. The production featured Chloe Kaitlyn Brown, Lucy Hall, Isabella Campos, & Annabelle Duffy. The production featured scenic design by Peter M. Rule, costume design by Claire Shea Duncan, lighting design by Xotchil Musser, sound design by Tate “Tauheedah” Abdullah, production management by Keen Ma, as well as Andrew Smith as the intimacy & stunt director.

this old haunt was developed through the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab’s Fall 2023 Julia de Burgos Cohort. The cohort was facilitated by Rose Van Dyne and Amelia Johnson.
this old haunt had a 29-hour reading with Tisch New Theatre at NYU. The reading took place on January 20, 2024. The reading was directed by Sofi Lopez Arredondo and featured Anna Maria Ferrari, Sawyer Evans, Lily Soto, Marielle Utayde, and Samantha Scott. Aryana Piros served as Stage Manager, Maya Kile, Zoe Farajian, & Chelsea Melnick served as Music Director, Erin Amstein served as Assistant Director, Breene Halaby served as Dramaturg, and Connie Staub served as Guitar Accompaniment.
The songs “storm chaser” and “folklore of me” was featured in the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab & Prospect Theater Company’s New Musicals Mixtape Concert on January 22, 2024, at Chelsea Factory. Songs were performed by Adelina Mitchell, Genesis Adelia Collado, Jade Jones, & Gabriela Gomez.
this old haunt was a Finalist for Parlando School of Musical Arts’ 2024 New Musical Project and a semifinalist for the 2025 New Works/New Voices Initiative at Syracuse University.
The NYC concert premiere of this old haunt was performed at The Green Room 42 on October 3rd, 2024. The concert featured Aline Mayagoitia, Autumn Eliza Sheffy, Julia Rifino, & Genesis Adelia Collado with direction by Rebecca Wahls and music direction by Alex Goldie Golden. The band featured Lexi Bodick & Sarah Elizabeth Haines.
